Continuous Vital Signs Tracking with Real-Time Alerts

Founded in 1844, Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine established one of Shanghai's first and most prestigious Western medical institutions. Today, the hospital comprises four campuses and the Shanghai Cancer Institute, offering a full range of medical disciplines and integrating clinical care, teaching, and research.

During COVID-19, the hospital rapidly expanded its emergency capacity to accommodate a growing number of elderly and high-risk patients. As a result, the pressure on nursing staff increased significantly.
To address these challenges, the hospital deployed Ocamar's contactless vital signs monitoring system. The system enables continuous, automatic measurement without attaching sensors to the patient or requiring nurse intervention. Nurses can now remotely assess each patient's condition and receive early alerts of deterioration—enabling safer, more efficient care without entering the room, even in high-pressure situations.
In addition to vital signs monitoring, the hospital also deployed other IoT-based systems, such as wireless infusion monitoring and body temperature monitoring. These solutions helped reduce manual workload for nurses and allowed them to focus on providing more compassionate and human-centered care—demonstrating how smart hospital solutions can make a real impact, especially during times of crisis.
